You will find below profiles of our students. People come to the International Business School with a wide range of experience and career aspirations. There is no such thing as a "typical IBS student". Anyone interested in the global economy will benefit from the opportunity to mix every day with talented peers from around the globe, and from the insights and perspectives they bring to the School.

Tushar Meshram
MBA, 2nd year
India

Tushar Meshram came to Brandeis IBS with 5 years of engineering and project management experience while working in London. A native of Mumbai, India, Tushar graduated from the prestigious V.J.T.I College of Engineering Mumbai and pursued his first Master’s degree from Scotland. He later worked for many prestigious international projects in the UK before joining Brandeis IBS. Currently in the second year of his MBA, Tushar works as a Leadership Fellow and is the recipient of a Global Leadership Scholarship and the Steve Bunson ’82 Fellowship Award.
This past summer, Tushar’s international experience was leveraged with a business development internship at American Tower Corporation Boston. Tushar worked as a team leader building a business entry model of an upcoming telecommunications technology for developing countries. This high level project was an important move for the company to expand its business internationally and was sponsored by stakeholders such as the President of Asia Operations, the SVP Chief Human Resources Officer (Global Head of HR), Director Alliances and the Chief Operation Officer India. With this internship, Tushar strengthened his business development experience and gained insight of the process involved in corporate decision-making for a multi-million dollar international project and participated at the due diligence stage of a business entering in emerging economies.

Alexei Ponomarov
MBA, 2nd year
Ukraine |
A former foreign trading broker with three years of experience in the petroleum and petrochemical industries, Alexei Ponomarov is a second year MBA student at Brandeis IBS. Originally from Lvov, Ukraine, Alexei received his Master's degree in Business Management and Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a concentration in Economic Cybernetics from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, Romania. Prior to coming to Brandeis IBS, Alexei accumulated extensive experience working with supply chain operations at a stainless steel firm and in contract negotiations with an international trading company in Romania.
At Brandeis, Alexei has excelled in courses such as Financial Theory, Marketing Management, Management Communication, and Operations Management. He also participated in an internship with RISI, a bioenergy consulting firm, and a part-time internship at the Clean Energy States Alliance with Warren Leon, a professor at Brandeis IBS. Outside of his in-class work, Alexei is involved with the Marketing Club, Consulting Club, and Men’s Volleyball Club.

Thomas Weaver
MAief, 2nd year

After graduating from Reed College, Thomas Weaver decided to pursue a career in international finance. Before committing to the industry, he decided to expand his global awareness. For the next three years, he traveled throughout the Asia Pacific region, lived in Japan and learned Japanese. Inspired by his experiences in the Pacific Rim, he came to Boston to partake in the MAief program.
Thomas hit the ground running since coming to Brandeis IBS. He was a finalist in the annual Stock Pitch Challenge, a panelist during a discussion on global financial regulation, interned at one of the most profitable hedge funds in the world, and became Co-President of the Global Markets Investment Club (GMIC). Prior to beginning his Summer internship, he was selected as a Hassenfeld Fellow, traveled to Istanbul and represented Brandeis IBS as he met with Turkey’s business leaders.
This past Summer, Thomas worked as an analyst at Maple Tree Capital while continuing to manage the GMIC portfolio. Since taking over management responsibilities in the Spring, the portfolio has seen a 13.3% return. Thomas hopes to begin a career in asset management following graduation.

Yubing Cui
PhD, 3rd year
China |
An accomplished academic scholar, Yubing Cui represents the diversity of experiences and talents typical of many IBS students. A very strong student, Yubing graduated near the top of her class in the Economics department at Shanghai International Studies University in China. She has interned at a number of reputable institutions including General Electric, Bank of China, and Boston Merchant Financial. More recently, she has been involved with the World Bank as a Research Assistant performing research on anti-dumping cases and global trade dispute trends.
A 2010 graduate of the MAief program at Brandeis IBS, Yubing was recently admitted to the highly selective PhD in International Economics and Finance program at Brandeis IBS, where she intends to focus on finance and possibly risk management. We are fortunate to have Yubing at Brandeis IBS for another four years!

Jessica Stanford
MBA, 2nd year

Jessica Stanford came to Brandeis IBS with an outstanding experience at the major international film studio Twentieth Century Fox, where she worked as a senior financial analyst in international finance and accounting. Her academic background is in finance as a Bachelor’s degree recipient from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She is currently in the second year of her MBA studies at Brandeis IBS, where she was awarded the Earle W. Kazis Fellowship.
At Brandeis IBS, Jessica is looking to apply her skills in the areas of Marketing and Public Relations. She has gained some valuable hands-on experience at The Boston Beer Company as a Public Relations intern, where she coordinated with non-profit organizations to sponsor and support charitable events with Samuel Adams beer and merchandise and where she collaborated with brand development and finance teams to execute marketing and public relations projects. Jessica has been very active at Brandeis IBS. She was elected President of the Marketing Club and serves as a Senator in the Graduate Student Association. She also keeps busy as a member of the International Business Women Organization, International Business School Student Association, Soccer Club, and Photography Club. |


Ingvar Sigurjonsson
MAief, 2nd year
Iceland |
Originally from Iceland, Ingvar Sigurjonsson is a second year MAief student at Brandeis IBS. Ingvar received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Iceland, where he studied Business Administration and was the valedictorian of his graduating class. At university, he wrote a thesis entitled “Carry Trade – Glacier Bonds: In search of returns.” Following his undergraduate studies, Ingvar attended Cornell University as the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, where he received his Master’s degree in Mathematics. Prior to coming to Brandeis, Ingvar worked at Risk Management LTD as a Quantitative Analyst in Research and Development and taught theoretical calculus courses at Reykjavik University.
While at Brandeis, Ingvar has taken courses in Applied International Macroeconomics, Corporate Finance, and Fixed Income Securities. He has also interned as a Quantitative Research Analyst in the Advanced Research Center at State Street Global Advisors. Ingvar is an avid handball enthusiast – Iceland’s national sport, and played the sport for fourteen years before his career was cut short by an injury. Ingvar is a recipient of the prestigious Peter Petri Fellowship.

Menghan Xu
MAief, 2nd year China

Menghan Xu has traveled a great distance to arrive at Brandeis IBS. Originally from Longchang, China, Menghan did her undergraduate study at Sichuan University majoring in International Economics and Trade and excelling as an honors student. During university, she also interned at the China Construction Bank in the Corporate Finance Department.
Since arriving at Brandeis IBS as a MAief student, Menghan has taken courses in Financial Modeling, Private Equity, Applied Risk Management, Options & Derivatives, and International Macroeconomics. Her Brandeis IBS coursework has prepared for the CFA exams, where she is currently a Level III candidate. This past Summer, Menghan interned at Kaz, Inc., a small appliances manufacturer, in the Program Management Health Care Department. Menghan has made sure to utilize all the resources at Brandeis IBS including all our financial software, which includes Matlab, Thomson One Banker,and the Brandeis IBS Bloomberg lab.

Yaniv Jember
MAief, 2nd year Israel

Yaniv Jember arrived at the Brandeis International Business School from his native Israel with some exciting practical experiences and a strong academic record. After completing three years in the Israeli military as a Weapons Sergeant, Yaniv enrolled at the The Interdisciplinary Center, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Government, Strategy, and Diplomacy with distinction. He supplemented his studies with internships at the Ministry of Absorption, where he maintained close relationships and provided guidance to 80 international students and at SLS Capital Management, LLC, where he evaluated retail companies for investment decisions and reviewed current trends in the financial industry.
Yaniv is attending Brandeis IBS as a Fulbright Scholar. He is in the 2nd year of his MAief and serves as a Leadership Fellow, second year students that act as peer counselors, advisors and mentors to first year students. Over the Summer, Yaniv added to his professional experiences by interning at Accenture. Yaniv is the Vice-President of the Brandeis IBS Consulting Club.
