Spring 2013
NABE Crisis Game
The Brandeis Chapter of
Nabe is happy to host with The Rosenberg Institute the second annual Crisis Game on February 7th, 2014.
The Brandeis Chapter of NABE seeks to expand its success amongst the economic students at different universities in the Boston area by hosting the second annual Crisis Game. The Crisis Game held on February 2nd, 2013 was the first inter-school economic competitive event, designed and organized by the Brandeis NABE Chapter, with the support of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE). It gave students an opportunity to apply their knowledge of economics, finance and market regulation in a simulation of a crisis, where within a restricted time frame the teams (representing the Central Bank and the Government of a simulated country) came up with a solution to rescue the economy. The game required students to not only apply their knowledge, but also be dynamic, organized, able to work under pressure, and have a set of other skills: data analysis, presentation, persuasion and debating. When the wave of a crisis starts to cover a country, governments and central banks need to make instantaneous decisions: this is a lesson that we want students to learn from this game.
