Graduate Professional Studies Program Chairs teach courses in their programs, recruit and mentor instructors, oversee course quality and advise students on program and course requirements. They also direct the efforts of industry executives who serve on our program advisory boards to ensure that our courses stay current and relevant.
Program Chair of Strategic Analytics, and Project & Program Management
Leanne is a senior-level project management consultant with more than sixteen years of experience across the areas of health care, information technology, high-tech manufacturing, construction, senior housing, government, and higher education. She is a member of the Project Management Institute and ASAPM, and she is a certified project management professional (PMP).
Program Chair of Bioinformatics
Alan Cheng, PhD, is a Principal Scientist at Amgen's research labs in South San Francisco, CA, where he works on the discovery of new medicines for oncology, cardiac, and neuroscience diseases. His research interests include computer-aided drug design and biological sequence-structure relationships. He received a PhD from the University of California, San Francisco, and undergraduate degrees from the University of California at Berkeley.
Program Chair of Information Technology Management, Information Security, and Health and Medical Informatics
Cynthia is currently serving as the chair of the IT Management, Information Security, and Health and Medical Informatics Programs. Her background is in software development, requirements engineering and information systems management.
She has also taught a variety of industry seminars and has been involved in online education at Brandeis and other institutions.
Program Chair of Software Engineering
Aline is a software architect specializing in enterprise and business systems design, architecture and development. She has also been a software development manager on a number of information technology projects. Aline has been managing, leading and participating in a variety of virtual and global technology teams.
Aline teaches courses in the Software Engineering. She has a Ph.D. in computer science from Brandeis University.
Program Chair of Online Instructional Design & Technology
Brian Salerno, MS is the Director of Online Learning and Assessment and a full-time faculty member at Brandeis University, Division of Graduate Professional Studies. He is currently responsible for managing the online learning infrastructure for GPS, and has significant background in instructional design, academic technology, faculty development, and leadership of cross-functional teams. Brian has over a decade of experience designing, developing, assessing, and teaching online courses and programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Brian's academic focus is primarily in the fields of instructional design, communications, technology, and interactive media.
