Microsoft Project for Project Management Professionals

The course covers both fundamental and practical approaches to use Microsoft Project to manage both individual and multiple projects. The components of Microsoft Project that effectively meet the needs of each of the five fundamental phases of the project management are demonstrated, with examples of both effective and ineffective techniques.

At the end of the course, student will be able to:

Create an initial project schedule based on project requirements and scope.

Assign effort, duration, and units for tasks.

Assign resources, materials, and equipment to a project schedule using cost effective methods.

Identify the critical path and optimize the schedule for time.

Find the resource-leveled critical path and optimize for time, cost, and scope.

Establish and update project baselines when appropriate.

Update project status, and understand both the correct and incorrect ways to do so.

Provide both standard and customized reports for various levels of management.

Create a common resource pool for use among multiple projects.

Create project schedules comprised of multiple projects.
