IMPORTANT - Changes to requirements for Masters in Information Technology Management, effective February 15, 2012.
The Division of Graduate Professional Studies is introducing two changes to the program requirements for the Master of Science in Information Technology degree. Everyone who applies to the program after February 15, 2012 will follow the new program requirements. These changes are designed to ensure that students in the Information Technology Management program acquire the skills they need in their careers.
1. RVTM-110, Management of Virtual and Global Teams, will become a required course for the degree. RVTM 110 is being added as a required course because of the increasing use of virtual and distributed work arrangements by organizations in almost every industry. Thus, it’s important that the people leading and managing are able to understand sociocultural, regulatory and geographic issues in a worldwide environment.
2. Additionally, students must choose either RMGT 101 or RPJM 101 as a required course. In order to ensure that students have the necessary IT skills to complete the program, RMGT 101, Perspectives on Information Technology is a required course. However, students who already have the skills taught in RMGT-101 may choose to take RPJM-101, Foundations of Project Management to fulfill the degree requirement. Students who take RMGT-101 can take RPJM-101 as an elective if they choose. This change will ensure that all students have the necessary IT and project management backgrounds to complete the degree program.
Students who are not yet formally accepted to the degree program may submit a completed application for admission prior to February 15 in order to be accepted to the Master of Science in Information Technology Management before these changes in policy go into effect.
We encourage students to contact the office for advising on admissions and course selections. Questions or concerns about these changes, which will become policy on February 16, 2012, may be directed to the Division of Graduate Professional Studies, (781) 736-8787 or GPS@brandeis.edu.
