Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Students are allowed to take up to two courses within GPS on an open-enrollment basis. See our Apply for Admissions pages for more details.
How do I register for courses?
You can register online, in person, by mail, or by fax. See Registration Overview for more details.
I am new to GPS. Can I register online?
Yes. Students who are new to GPS are eligible to register online. You will need to set-up your online account, and you will then receive a temporary username and password that you can use to access our online registration system, SAGE. See Registration Overview for more details.
What types of payment options are accepted by GPS?
Acceptable forms of payment include personal check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or electronic bank draft.
What if I need to drop my course?
During the regular Registration Period, students can add, drop or swap courses using SAGE. For details, and to review the drop policies after the regular Registration Period, see our Add/Drop pages.
I want to plan out my program of classes. How do I learn which courses will be taught in upcoming semesters?
Please visit our Course Schedule page. We typically list the official schedule a few weeks before the start of the Registration Period.
Course schedules for future terms are available to view online, but please note that these course offerings are tentative until registration opens for that term, and that some information may not be available until the start of registration (class meeting days, instructor, etc.).
While taking GPS classes, may I use Brandeis facilities and participate in campus activities and events?
Yes. GPS students are entitled to the same services that Brandeis provides for its students. A Brandeis student ID is required.
GPS students are also welcome to attend Brandeis events that are open to the campus community and the public. To view some of the types of events, please visit our Events page.
Does GPS offer any sort of financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition?
GPS students are eligible for federal student loans as long as they are matriculated in a master's program, registering for at least two courses that term, and are actively working toward completing their degree requirements.
See our Tuition and Financial Aid pages for more details about loan options and eligibility.
My employer will be covering the cost of my tuition. How does this affect my registration?
Full payment of tuition and fees must be received by GPS upon registration, regardless of the terms of such an arrangement between the employee and employer.
If your employer is able to submit payment for your tuition up-front at the time of registration, please contact the GPS offices prior to registration.
View our Tuition and Financial Aid pages for more details regarding employer reimbursement.
Can I take more than two courses this semester?
While GPS is a part-time program, and most of our students take only one or two courses per term, some students occasionally request to take a greater course load. Students may request to take three courses (no more than 9 credits) in a given term, which is subject to approval by the GPS office. The GPS office strongly discourages students from taking more than two courses (6 credits) in a term. Students who wish to take more than two courses in a term do so at their own discretion, and are subject to the academic, withdrawal and refund policies as set forth in the GPS Student Handbook.
Please use the Full-Time Student Request Form to request to take three courses (9 credits). Requests must be received during the regular Registration Period, and will be reviewed by the GPS staff. If a request is approved, you will receive an email directing you to contact the GPS office with your additional course selections. Students may only register for two courses using SAGE, and an additional third course must be approved and processed by the GPS staff.
