Elections are regularly held twice a year: the Executive Officers are elected at the end of each Spring semester to serve for the following year, and the Senators are elected in the beginning of the Fall semester. There may also be special elections from time to time, such as referenda on amendments to the GSA Constitution.

Election Results for 2008/09

The results for the 2008 GSA election are as follows:

President: Ram Iyer
Treasurer: Sergey Egay
Educational Programming Coordinator: Ieva Jusionyte
Travel and Research Grants Coordinator: Lebo Sello

Senators from GSAS: Catherine Havasi, Emily Canning, Scott Motyka, Jane Harries, Tathagata Sengupta, Murat Karabacak, and with the most write-in votes, Heather Sternshein

Senators from Heller: Muhammad Ehsan Noorzai, Eddyson Nyale, Alex Emoyo Muya, and Susan Ayero

Senators from IBS: Aliya M. Al-Aufi, Mete Tuzcu, Amidou Guindo, and Benjamin Ochieng

The race for President of the GSA was competitive, and the ranking method employed during the election, served as a tie-breaker and a tool to simulate a second round of elections should there be no clear-cut winner. After an analysis of the results, we are pleased to declare Ram Iyer, the winner of the race and the next President of the GSA.

Additionally, the new GSA Constitution was approved by 88.6% of those who voted (62 of 70), and needing 60% to pass, is now our official Constitution.

Congratulations to all candidates and to those elected for the 2008-2009 academic year.
