Orientation 2008

For Students Entering This Fall

Brandeis holds many events to orient you and familiarize you with our campus, your program, and the Boston area. There are four different sets of events of which you should be aware.

GSAS Orientation (Mandatory) will be held on Tuesday August 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Olin-Sang Auditorium. This event will serve as your formal introduction to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and will include useful information on health services, information and library services, and other vital information. Please note that attendance is mandatory.

International Student Orientation (Mandatory for ALL international students) will be held on Monday August 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  During this time, staff members of the International Students and Scholars Office will help acclimate you to campus and will brief you on very important immigration policies regarding your study in the United States. Attendance is mandatory.

The Graduate Student Affairs Office hosts a week-long orientation beginning on Friday August 22. While optional, these events will bridge the gap between your academic, extracurricular, and co-curricular experiences at Brandeis. Socialize with incoming graduate students from across the three schools and discover what resources Brandeis can offer you. For more information, click here.

Individual departments also may hold programmatic orientations, which will serve as a basic introduction to your home office, key staff members in your department, and departmental policies. This information will be disseminated directly from your departments throughout the summer. In the case that your department does not hold a departmental orientation, we encourage you to visit your department office upon arrival to Brandeis to meet the staff and other students.
