Graduate Student Services
The university provides strong support for graduate students. Alwina Bennett, Assistant Provost for Graduate Student Affairs, is a major resource for students seeking to navigate their way through the graduate program.
Health Insurance
The university has recently negotiated a significant upgrade in the quality of graduate student health care. The most up-to-date information can be found on the Health Center website.
On-Campus Housing
A small number of residence hall spaces, which are assigned by David Cotter, Assistant Dean for Admission, are available to graduate students. For more details, see the on-campus housing website.
Off-Campus Housing
Nearly all graduate students live off campus, primarily in Waltham or in the Cambridge-Somerville area. The university organizes two apartment-hunting weekends each summer, providing housing and transportation to assist incoming students to find a suitable apartment. English as a Second Language (ESL) Program
The English as a Second Language Program (ESL) offers international graduate students services to assist you in adjusting to the American academic environment. To support your success, we offer weekly one-on-one tutorials in writing and oral skills and oral skills classes to hone your speaking, teaching, and presentation skills. Disability Resources
The university provides reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Once accepted, a student must document a learning, physical, or psychological disability at Brandeis to receive appropriate services. For more details, see the disabilities services website.
Psychological Counseling
Confidental psychological counseling services are available to Brandeis graduate students through a variety of means. Students who have paid the health services fee may receive professional assistance for personal or emotional problems. Career Services
GSAS Career Services assists master's and Ph.D. students in the arts and sciences with career decision-making and planning and job seeking for pursuits within and beyond academe. We do this by providing career counseling services, workshops and other programs, and referrals to electronic and print resources. Graduate Student Association
