Student Opportunities

HBI offers a number of opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students with an interest in Jewish gender studies to be involved with our activities.​

Graduate Students

Residencies​

​Gilda Slifka Graduate Student Internship Program
An eight-week paid summer internship for graduate students enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program in line with the HBI's mission.

HBI Scholar-in-Residence Programs
Residences up to one semester are available to Ph.D. candidates nearing completion of their degree. 

Funding

HBI Research Awards
Ph.D. candidates are invited to apply for a Junior HBI Research Award to support costs associated with completing their thesis.

Rosalie Katchen Travel Award
Ph.D. candidates who have been accepted to present at the annual Associate of Jewish Studies conference may apply for a $250 grant to cover travel expenses.

Additional Opportunities: 

Graduate Advisory Committee
Brandeis graduate students currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program dealing with Jewish gender issues are invited to join this group that provides academic counsel to the HBI. 

Graduate Student Research Assistants
Provide HBI Directors and visiting scholars with research assistance. Openings are posted on the Brandeis Student Employment website.

Undergraduate Students

Gilda Slifka Internship Program

HBI Student Research Assistant Program (Brandeis University students only) 
Provide research assistance to an HBI Scholar-in-residence. Openings are posted on the Brandeis Student Employment website.

Brandeis Student Worker:
Assist the HBI staff with a variety of tasks. Openings are posted on the Brandeis Student Employment website.
