The HBI Internship Program
June 11, 2011 - August 3, 2012

Deadline EXTENDED: Thursday, April 5th, 2012

The HBI Internship Program provides undergraduate students a variety of opportunities to learn about the work of Jewish women's studies scholars and centers, and try their hand at research in the field. Interns assist HBI affiliated scholars and offices, and develop their own individual projects. Weekly outings to research archives and places of Jewish interest, and discussions with Jewish Studies and Women's Studies scholars, expose interns to various methodologies and academic frameworks. Interns live on the Brandeis University campus in housing provided by the HBI and receive a weekly stipend.

2009 Interns Present Individual Projects

Individual projects are an opportunity for interns to explore an area of Jewish women's studies of personal interest. Each intern is expected to produce a work—an academic paper, a short story, a website, an art work—that is original, personally meaningful, and draws on creative and intellectual energies. Past projects have included a Jewish Women's Health bibliography, a short film about the spiritual meaning of challah making, and a study of female protagonists of children's Holocaust literature.

The HBI Internship Program runs from June 11 - August 3, 2012 and is open to undergraduate students from the United States and abroad. There is no US residency requirement.
