The result of more Israeli women studying at the Beit Midrash is a new sacred literature in classical genres such as midrash. This writing is slowly, but steadily taking its place in the canon.

Tamar Biala, Helen Gartner Hammer scholar-in-residence at the HBI, is the editor of Dirshuni-Midrashei Nashim (Yediot Acharonot/Jewish Agency, 2009), a pathbreaking collection of new Israeli women’s midrashim. She is currently completing the second volume, and beginning work on the English edition.
