October, 2008 - Raquel Partnoy presented at the Embassy of Argentina in Washington DC her series of paintings "Surviving Genocide". This series emphasizes similarities between the Holocaust and the genocide committed in Argentina by the military dictatorship (1976/1983). On the 25th Anniversary of the return to democracy, these works gave testimony of the experiences endured by Partnoy's family, and thousands of Argentine families during those cruel times, and at the same time they paid tribute to the millions victimized during the Holocaust.
Images of Partnoy's series of paintings: "Women Still Lives" were published in the Vol. 24, No. 3. Summer 2008 issue of CALIX, a Journal of Art and Literature by Women, US. Partnoy created this series of portraits inspired by the stories of all those muses-artists from different background who became well known in the art world after long years of being discriminated by society, or overshadowed by their husbands or companions, already famous artists.

Photographer Marti Friedlander is currently featured in the magazine, PRIX-CHOC APR 08. PRIX-CHOC is a 292 page glossy magazine, printed in black ink, in a limited edition of only 500 copies.
This issue is almost entirely devoted to a single photographic project with Marti Friedlander. For PRIX-CHOC, Marti worked for the first time with a digital camera, and for the first time with agency models. Over 50 models from a single agency turned up to an open-call weekend photo shoot, and were photographed without styling, wardrobe or makeup, and with only limited direction. The resulting 252 photographs fill the pages of PRIX-CHOC. PRIX-CHOC APR 08 features texts by Julian Dashper, Pansy Duncan, and David Levinson.
PRIX-CHOC is published on an irregular basis. PRIX-CHOC APR 08 is available from Thursday next week for the retail price of NZ$2.80, and is available by online mail-order.
