OBTAINING INSURANCE CARDS:Upon enrollment in the School Health Plan insurance cards will be sent to undergraduate student mailboxes, domestic graduate students' listed addresses, and  international graduate students' department mailstops.

An insurance card is not needed to access care. Your insurance membership information can be accessed at University Health Plans.

SURVEY LETTER FROM BCBS of MA: In compliance with federal law, is requesting that SHP enrollees provide Social Security Numbers or Tax Identification Numbers to BCBS. This is used for IRS reporting purposes. The law requires that BCBS ask for this information in writing three times. Students are not required to respond. International students without a SSN or TIN should disregard the letters.

School Insurance Plan (SHP)

Each year, all full and 3/4 time students must enroll in the qualifying School Health Plan (SHP) or waive the plan and report their own comparable health insurance coverage. This is required by  Massachusetts Regulations to assure that students have adequate coverage in the area they are attending school. The school is required to offer a qualifying  plan know as the School Health Plan.

2014-2015 world wide coverage information (included in your plan)

It is the student's responsibility to assure that their insurance plan is comparable to the Brandeis SHP plan and meets state and federal regulations.

To assist with this the Health Center and its Student Health Advisory Committee have developed a Health Coverage Worksheet to help with comparisons. Please review these requirements with your insurance broker or agent to assure you have adequate coverage in the area you are attending school.  You may need to purchase a rider, additional coverage, or the SHP.  It is important for you to consider that plans with high deductibles and co insurances place you at risk for incurring significant out of pocket expenses  well beyond the cost of the SHP.
