Medical and Preventive Health Services

Outpatient Episodic and Preventive  Medical Services

Brandeis Health Center is a resource for the campus community providing medical  assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation as well as preventive and wellness health promotion.

Our services are respectful, inclusive, accessible and confidential.

Allergy Immunotherapy

We do not administer allergy injections at the health center. However,  there are excellent allergy/immunology practices in the area who will take new patients. Other practices may even administer the serums prescribed by your own allergist.   Please call the health center for a  list of local specialists.  1- 781-736-3677.

Laboratory Services

The Health Center provides several on site clia waived tests but does not operate a full clinical medical laboratory. Specimens are routinely sent to Quest for analysis. We also use Boston Clinical Laboratories, a nonaffiliated, local laboratory and LabCorp as required by United Health Care.

It is the student’s responsibility to know if their insurance has any coverage specifications for laboratory services.  Students will be responsible for any laboratory bills not covered by their insurance.

Off-Campus Resources

The Health Center maintains a list of specialty providers in the Waltham and Greater Boston areas and can assist you with these names.  As always,  consumers are responsible for checking with your insurer regarding your  plan and network coverage and/or referral needs.

The closest hospital to Brandeis University is the Newton Wellesley Hospital (NWH), a premier community teaching hospital offering medical, surgical and specialty care, 24-hour emergency services and a pediatric emergency department. When students need a level 2 hospital admission they often go to NWH.

Students will be transferred or brought by ambulance to Boston Hosptials when level 3 care is necessary.
