FLU Vaccine

Flu season starts in the fall, usually peaks in January  or February, with outbreaks  occurring through May. Approximately 5-20% of U.S. residents get the flu each year. This year we are offering the quadrivalent vaccine which protects against 4 strains of the flu virus (2 A types and 2 B types). Flu vaccine is still available for all graduate and undergraduate students. Walk in hours are M-F 9:00-12:00 pm and 1:00 p - 4:00 pm. Please call to schedule an appointment if you need to come for a vaccine outside of these hours.

By Massachusetts State Regulations (105 CMR 220.600), students must have documentation of  required vaccines or proof of immunity through antibody blood titers before coming to campus.  All 3/4 and FT students who report insurance to the school and have access to health services report this information to the health center through our secure patient portal. A registration hold will be placed on all students with incomplete records.  Occasionally a student is unable to complete a vaccination series before arriving on campus. The Health Center is able to help you complete immunizations and Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST).  Vaccines are available on a walk in basis from 9:30-11:30 and 1:00-4 (or by appointment if you cannot get in during the walk in hours).

Students who believe they were immunized in the past but have no records can have a blood test drawn to detect the presence of antibodies (a titer).  Many insurances do not pay for these blood tests so we have arranged a self pay option which must be paid  directly to the laboratory processing these tests at the time of service.   However, we recommend that this testing be done before arriving to campus and the results submitted as part of the required documentation to assure any  further vaccination needs can be completed in a timely manor.
