Career Counseling Appointments

Our career counseling sessions provide support, information and guidance to alumni at all stages of their career development. Individual appointments are either one-half hour or one hour in length, and can take place in person or over the phone. Career counseling sessions can cover a wide variety of topics and concerns including career exploration and decision making, changing careers, decisions about graduate school, job search strategies, resume and cover letter critiques, interview and networking preparation, negotiating salaries and others terms of employment and re-entering the workforce. Online Career Resources

Hiatt offers a variety of online resources to assist you with your career development needs at all different stages of your career:

Type Focus
This program will assess your personality type and lead you on a path of self-discovery. As you affirm and discover your career-related strengths and interests, you’ll become more aware of what career options are right for you.

Career Toolbox
This selection of resources will assist you with written and verbal self-marketing practices including resume writing, how to approach various professional correspondence, interviewing and networking techniques, how to create a professional portfolio and tips on navigating various professional situations.

Hiatt NACElink 
Hiatt NACELink houses a variety of resources for your career development, including Hiatt's calendar, and specialized resources including the Law School Contact List, Case Questions Interactive and Vault.  This Brandeis-only database lists internships, jobs, and domestic and international company information, and allows you to create customized job/internship search agents, and more.

LinkedIn
Join Hiatt Career Center's professional networking community for Brandeis University alumni and students on LinkedIn . This is a forum to share career-related knowledge, information, referrals, and advice across industries and geographic locations. All alumni welcome. Current students MUST complete Hiatt’s required networking training prior to being accepted to this group.

B Connect

Hiatt Online Library Resources
Our online library offers a variety of helpful career-related resources designed to assist you according to your Brandeis major, desired geographic location and career field. We also feature helpful information on topics surrounding diversity in the workplace. In addition, Hiatt houses a career library with books on a range of topics that are relevant to alumni at all different stages of their career.

This is a list of helpful articles and information on topics such as transitioning into the workplace, changing jobs, switching careers, age issues, relocation and re-entering the workforce.

Interfolio Credential Service
Interfolio, the premier application portfolio management service, is now available to students and alumni of Brandeis University. Interfolio is the easiest and most affordable way for a prospective teacher to apply for a teaching position, a PhD to send academic credentials to a search committee, or an undergraduate to send application materials to graduate and professional schools.  There is a $19 charge for this service, payable online to Interfolio.

Vault (Connect via Hiatt NACElink's "Quick Links.")
This online library includes over 90 Vault Career Guides and employer profiles, and over 3,000 company profiles.

Career Search (Connect via Hiatt NACElink's "Quick Links.")
CareerSearch is a database that includes over one million companies along with contact names, addresses, phone numbers, website addresses and a variety of company background information. The database can be searched according to industry type, location, and keywords. The site includes additional features such as an internship search function, salary wizard and reports that include information regarding top cities in the United States. 

CQ Interactive (Connect via Hiatt NACElink's "Quick Links.")
CQ is an online case interview preparation website by Marc Consentino. Marc is the author of Case in Point, the top selling case interview book in the country.
