Hiatt Goes Abroad: Services for students studying abroad
Jan. 14, 2013
Greeting Study Abroad Students:
Welcome to your semester abroad! Do you have any career questions that you wish you could get help with while abroad? If so, Sarah Bierman '14 is here to help.
Sarah, who has been a Hiatt Advisor at the Hiatt Career Center for two years, will also be studying abroad this semester at the Slade School for Art in London. (Follow her journey on her blog.) While abroad, she can help you stay connected to campus and get the resources you need through “Hiatt Goes Abroad.”
Hiatt Goes Abroad includes online drop-ins and Skype career counseling appointments in a time zone near you! Beginning Monday, January 14, 2013, Sarah will host online drop-ins via Google chat (just like HiattChat) on the following schedule:
- Monday, 8:00 – 10:00 PM GMT (UK Time Zone)
- Wednesday, 7:00 – 9:00 PM GMT (UK Time Zone)
Log in during these times to ask questions about anything career-related, including resume/cover letter reviews, practice interviews, finding/applying for jobs/internships while abroad, applying to on-campus leadership applications, how to highlight your study abroad experience in your applications, applying for internship funding, networking with alumni, and more!
If you are unable to sign on during these times, you can email Sarah directly with your questions or documents for review at hiattabroad@gmail.com. You can also email her (or Hiatt directly at hiattcenter@brandeis.edu) to schedule a 30-minute Skype appointment (Skype account: HiattAbroad).
Logging in to Hiatt Goes Abroad chat for the first time
- Sign into your Brandeis email or a Gmail account.
- In the chat box at the bottom left of your inbox, type hiattabroad@gmail.com and select “Invite to chat.”
- Hit “Send invites.” Once your invite is accepted, hiattabroad will appear in your chat list
In addition to live chat and Skype appointments, Hiatt career counselors will also be offering live online webinars on relevant topics, so stay tuned!
On behalf of the Hiatt Career Center, we wish you the best of luck on your study abroad experience, and hope you will take advantage of our new service, Hiatt Goes Abroad!
