The Hiatt Career Center is hosting an event with the alumni chapter of New York City to bring together NYC-based alumni and current Brandeis students for a timely panel discussion followed by open networking. The theme for this year's event is, “The Intersection of Economy, Policy & Markets.” Moderated by Robert Brown '88 M.A.'89, the panel will feature three to four Brandeis alumni who have unique thoughts on the challenges facing our country's financial markets, including the European financial crisis, the looming fiscal cliff, job creation and shifting policy. Alumni panelists will represent various areas of finance to give attendees diverse perspectives, from financial markets to policy to investments. The theme for this year's event is, "Brandeis Entrepreneurs: Breaking Out of the Mold." The panel will feature three to four Brandeis alumni who have successfully transitioned out of traditional careers in our nation’s capital (including law, government, policy, etc.) to pursue new ventures that truly personify the versatility of a Brandeis liberal arts education. Panelists will discuss why they made the transition, how they went about starting a new business, and how their Brandeis experience played a part in shaping their career path. Following the panel, attendees will be able to meet and network with fellow alumni and current Brandeis students about their own distinct career paths and goals. Wisdom Wanted Ads

Wisdom Wanted ads are specific requests for alumni career advice that Hiatt sends to our alumni e-mail list monthly. Students can write ads seeking advice on a variety of topics, from grad school applications to job opportunities in a specific field. When alumni want to respond to your ad, they will contact you directly via email. To submit an ad, you must have a LinkedIn profile, complete Hiatt's networking requirements and fill out this online form.

Hiatt Career Center Networking Group

The Hiatt Career Center moderates a professional networking group on LinkedIn for Brandeis students and alumni. By joining this group, you gain access to an extended community of Brandeis alumni who want to support you in achieving your career goals by offering advice, meeting with you for informational interviews, and answering the discussion questions you post. To join our group, you must have a LinkedIn profile, complete Hiatt’s networking requirements and request to join the group.

The Eastern Association of Colleges & Employers (EACE) is sponsoring a series of employer site visits for students from member schools during Winter Break, January 2-11, 2013. Site visits may include panel discussions of employees and/or interns, site tours, or networking sessions. The programs cost $10.00 per site. Students must provide their own transportation to and from the site, and they are responsible for any incidental expense they may incur.
