Event Details

Brandeis University’s Year-In-Service Forum
Monday, October 22, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Sherman Hall, Hassenfeld Conference Center

Interested in service-related careers but not sure where to start? Become more aware and prepared for service careers through direct exposure and discussions with alumni and recruiters from top national and international service programs at Brandeis University's Year-In-Service Forum.

The evening begins with a keynote address by Karen Chisholm, AmeriCorps*VISTA Director at Massachusetts Campus Compact.

Following the keynote, students will participate in a series of round-table networking discussions with alumni and employer guests to get insights about their field or organization, industry trends, and applying to positions.

Following the round table sessions, students will have a chance to continue conversations with representatives during a career fair-type portion of the evening. Attendees can find out when employers will be back on campus for follow-up activities, including traditional interviews, practice interviews, employer office hours, and information sessions.

Event Preparation

There is a prep workshop scheduled for Friday, October 19th from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in the Hiatt Career Center.  Forum participants are encouraged to attend to learn about the event and maximize their networking efforts. RSVP: B.hired > Events > Workshops

Keynote

Karen Chisholm
AmeriCorps*VISTA Director

Massachusetts Campus Compact

Karen has been the Director of the Massachusetts Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA program since 1998. Prior to this she served three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania, East Africa, one year as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member at Rural Action, Inc. in Appalachian Ohio and was the first AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader at Massachusetts Campus Compact. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Masters degree in International Affairs from Ohio University. She lives in Somerville with her husband John and their four year old daughter Lacy.
