We recommend that you include a resume wiith your application.
How do I explain any discrepancies in my application? Some candidates have something on their application which they feel needs more explanation than the application allows. By using an addendum, you can briefly explain to an admissions committee anything that needs clarification. It is very important that you offer an explanation rather than an excuse. Tone is everything!
Things which might require more detailed explanation include:
- an overall GPA which you do not believe to be indicative of your academic ability. Reasons might include:
- a difficult time academically when you first began Brandeis, but your transcript now indicates an upward trend
- one or two bad grades which considerably lowered your GPA
- a personal situation which had a negative impact one semester
- inclusion of study abroad grades from courses taken in a foreign language
- an LSAT score which you do not believe to be predictive of your ability for success in law school. Reasons might include:
- documented learning disability
- documented history of low standardized test scores which did not accurately predict your undergraduate academic performance (specifically, combined SAT scores < 1000 paired with a high GPA)
- non-native English speaker
