You will need to request your official Brandeis transcript from the Registrar's Office . Bring along a transcript request card from your LSAT/LSDAS booklet.
You will also need transcripts that reflect any undergraduate and graduate level coursework you have taken. This includes study abroad, summer or evening coursework, AP courses in high school, transfer, law/medical/professional schools, etc. For a complete listing, see your LSAT Registration Information Book. These additional transcripts must be obtained directly from those institutions. Remember to accompany each request with a card from the LSAT/LSDAS booklet. LSDAS will then compile a law services report form which is forwarded to each school to which you apply.
Do I need to send transcripts to each law school directly?
No. You need to send one official transcript from each school where you have taken any undergraduate or graduate courses directly to LSDAS. This includes study abroad, summer or evening coursework, AP courses in highschool, transfer, law/medical/professional schools, etc. LSDAS will then compile a law services report form which is forwarded to each school to which you apply.
Where do I get my transcripts from my semester/year abroad?
Study abroad transcripts must be obtained directly from the Univerisity or program you attended, even if the coursework is reflected on your Brandeis transcript.
Non-Seniors: If you are planning to study abroad, the Office of Academic Affairs strongly encourages you to have additional official transcripts forwarded to their office. They will be kept on file for you to pick up on an as-needed basis.
What does LSDAS do with my transcript?
LSDAS uses your transcripts to recalculate your GPA to make it more equivalent with GPAs from schools that use different grading systems. They then generate a law school report form which contains:
- LSAT score and percentile
- LSDAS GPA and percentile. (You may find that your LSDAS GPA may differ from your Brandeis GPA. When LSDAS calculates your GPA, they take into consideration all undergraduate coursework).
- Brandeis GPA
- summary of your transcript(s)
What about my fall grades senior year?
Law schools want as complete a picture of you as possible when making their admissions' decisions. Upon receipt of your fall semester grades, forward a revised official copy of your transcript to LSDAS, who will then forward the information to the law schools to which you've applied. Some candidates will forward official updated transcipts directly to one or two of their top choice schools in addition to LSDAS. It is not necessary but seems to make them feel better!
