Finance and Consulting Resume Collection
Introduction
You don’t need a business degree to get your foot in the door at leading firms such as McKinsey, Bain, Goldman & JPMorgan. If you’re interested in pursuing a full-time or summer analyst position in consulting or finance starting in summer 2009, we encourage you to submit your résumé to the Finance and Consulting Resume Book.
Students interested in having their resume considered for these specialized collections are being asked to have their resume reviewed well in advance of the submission deadlines. Student resumes can be officially submitted to the resume books by a Hiatt professional. Submission of a resume to the collection will require students schedule a meeting specifically for the purpose of submitting your resume. Previous work on your resume and meetings with Hiatt, in person or on the telephone, will need to precede your resume being submitted to the book.
Date Range for Resume Collection
- Seniors: May 2008 - June 2008; resume submission deadline is August 1.
- Juniors and sophomores: September 2008 - November 2008; resumes submission deadline is November 24.
Final resume books will be distributed to several leading consulting and finance employers who have expressed an interest in recruiting Brandeis sophomores and juniors.
Who can participate?
This collection is intended for select seniors, juniors and sophomores seeking full-time employment or summer internships as an analyst at top consulting or finance firms.
Important Note
In order to ensure the overall quality of the resume book, the Hiatt Career Center reserves the right to exclude any resumes submitted that do not follow the submission criteria or contain substantial grammatical errors or formatting problems.
How to Submit Your Resume
- Begin preparing for the competitive recruiting process, including employer research, networking, resume and interview preparation, and mock interviews, now! It is important that students utilize summer break as time to prepare and study for the upcoming recruiting cycles. Interviews for seniors can happen as early as mid-August.
- Schedule a time for a Hiatt counselor to review your resume before you consider having it submitted to the collection. Refer to Hiatt finance resume section for reference.
- Schedule a time, in person or over the telephone to have your final resume submitted to the appropriate collection.
- Contact Hiatt with any questions.
How the process works
- Because these firms receive so many resumes, it is critical that we maintain a high standard of quality for the resume book to ensure Brandeis students receive full consideration. Accordingly, Hiatt reserves the right to exclude resumes with poor formatting, typos, or weak descriptions.
- Resumes will be sent to the employers immediately after the collection. You will hear from the employers directly about next steps. Most employers will contact you in late August or early September for full-time and early January for internships, but it is possible that you will be contacted much earlier in both cases, so please monitor your email over summer break and begin preparing for the interview process now.
- IMPORTANT: You must officially apply via the company web site as well as participate in the resume collection to be considered an official candidate. Employers use the resume books to identify strong candidates that submit through the resume portal.
- If you have not worked with a Hiatt counselor on your finance or consulting resume, it is important that you have your resume reviewed by somebody at Hiatt, even if you have already submitted your resume to past resume collections. We can always replace your resume with the new version.
