Student Testimonial
"It's an awesome experience! Not only do you get to meet tons and tons of different people but you are also given the opportunity to build some
important skills. As an OL I developed my organizational, leadership, and communication skills in ways that no other opportunity has allowed
me to do."

Overview
With over 250 clubs at Brandeis, you have many opportunities to develop your leadership skills. As a student, your schedule may not leave you with a lot of time for jobs, but leadership positions and club involvement can help you develop your communication and organization skills, which will look impressive on your resume.
Employers' perspective
Employers do not view your resume in terms of paid or unpaid positions; instead, they are looking for experiences that helped you build skills necessary to succeed in their work environment. Since Brandeis clubs are for the most part completely run by students, you can gain knowledge in:
- Budgeting
- Supervision
- Advertising and marketing
- Implementing contracts with vendors
- Event planning
- Project management
- Counseling
Action Plan
Start by joining your residential Quad Council or by running in Quad or Class Senator elections. You can join these organizations as soon as you come to campus.
Attend the Activities Fair at the beginning of each semester and join clubs that explore the same interests you have. As you become more involved, run for executive board positions.
Become a Peer Advisor such as a Hiatt Advisor, Roosevelt Fellow, Community Advisor, or Orientation Leader.
