The HBI announces the fourth annual prize recognizing the creative and significant work carried out by Brandeis students in the field of Jewish gender studies. The HBI Prize will be awarded to one undergraduate and one graduate student for an exceptional research paper written in the current (2011/2012) academic year that exemplifies the HBI's mission of producing fresh ideas about Jews and gender.
The winners of the prize will each receive a cash award of $250.

Each year, the HBI gives out between 20 and 30 Research Award grants to support academic and artistic projects about Jews and gender.

The Hadassah-Brandeis Institute is pleased to announce the third
annual competition to translate a book on a topic that deals in a
significant way with Jews and gender. Applications will be accepted
from both authors and/or translators, and are due by November 16,
2011. Decisions will be announced by February 16, 2012.

The HBI Scholar-in-Residence Programs provide scholars, artists, writers and communal professionals the opportunity to be in residence at Brandeis University while working on significant projects in the field of Jewish women’s and gender studies.

The HBI Scholar-Residence Programs are made possible by the generosity of the entire HBI board and particularly board members Rita (and Irwin) Blitt, and Roselyne (Cissie) Swig.
The HBI Artist-in-Residence Program provides artists the opportunity to be in residence at Brandeis University while working on a significant artistic project in the field of Jewish women’s and gender studies, and to produce an exhibit for the Kniznick Gallery at the Women’s Studies Research Center (WSRC) at Brandeis University. The residency is 3 – 4 weeks in length, and takes place January – February. The exhibit will immediately follow and be on view for a minimum of 6 weeks.

The Rosalie Katchen Travel Grant is available to junior
scholars presenting papers at the Association of Jewish
Studies Annual Meeting exploring Jewish women and gender
issues. Scholars who completed their dissertation within
the past five years are invited to apply.

Research Associates are HBI affiliates who carry out projects that support the institute's mission. The HBI provides RAs with academic oversight, access to the HBI and the resources of Brandeis University. The HBI does not provide RAs with assigned work space at the institute or with financial support. Individuals may, however, apply for funding through any of the HBI programs.
Applications to the RA program are by invitation only.
