Long-Term Care Insurance

Through the sponsorship of The Boston Consortium, Brandeis University offers benefit eligible employees the opportunity to purchase group long-term care insurance through CNA Insurance Co. for both themselves and their family members. Long-term care insurance covers a portion of the costs of nursing-home stays and home health-care visits that are not adequately covered by group health plans, other insurance or government programs. Employees may request a copy of the plan brochures from the Benefits section of the Office of Human Resources.

Eligibility

Regular full-time and benefit eligible part-time employees are eligible to enroll, with guaranteed issue, within 30 days of their hire date. Eligible employees who do not sign up during the initial period may enroll at a future date, provided they submit evidence of insurability to CNA before the effective day of coverage.

Coverage is also available to employees' spouse and/or same-sex domestic partner (with completion of a short-form application regarding their health status) as well as
parents, parents-in-law, grandparents and grandparents-in-law under the age of 80 (with completion of a long-form application regarding their health status), subject to approval by CNA Insurance.

Important Note

The Benefits section of the Office of Human Resources does not administer this benefit. All inquiries should be made directly to a CNA representative at 1-877-777-9072. CNA will forward enrollees  a copy of the Summary Plan Description. CNA has established a Web site  (www.ltcbenefits.com) for Brandeis employees.
