The Brandeis Virtual Incubator: Education...Community...Mentorship...and Funding
The Brandeis Virtual Incubator fosters entrepreneurship in Brandeis students, post-doctoral fellows, staff and faculty. The Virtual Incubator is a focal point for anyone at Brandeis interested in technology commercialization-the intersection of business and science. The Virtual Incubator's activities are four-fold, designed to foster entrepreneurial activities within the Brandeis community including:
- Educational opportunities to help develop entrepreneurship skills
- Mentoring by experienced, successful entrepreneurs
- Networking events with industry and introductions into the local venture community
- The I-Corps, SPROUT and SPARK Program seed funds to move selected Brandeis inventions to the marketplace
Brandeis SPROUT, I-Corps, and SPARK Grant Programs
The SPROUT and I-Corps programs (for bench research) and SPARK program (for non-bench research) are seed funding opportunities designed to "step-up" selected Brandeis technologies and make them more attractive for licensing and commercial development. If you are a Brandeis scientist, fellow, student, or faculty, we provide financial help to prove the commercial worth of your ideas. Grants of up to $50,000 are available via SPROUT and I-Corps, and grants of several thousand dollars are available through SPARK. Applications are made available on this page, and the Brandeis Innovation homepage, when judging is open.
SPROUT funds bench research by Brandeis faculty, postdocs, and graduate students. Grants range from $1,000 to $20,000 for more advanced research with strong potential to be patented and licensed.
