Summer Academic Internship Options:  Credit For Your Summer Internship

All internship credit is earned by enrolling in an internship course.  Below are the options for students interested in earning Brandeis credit for their summer internships:

  • 1-Credit Internship Course

  • 4-Credit Internship Course Options

1-Credit Summer Internship Course Option

Ideal for:

  • International Students who need CPT authorization

  • Students at sites that require them to be earning credit

Enroll in the Rabb Summer School 1-Credit INT 92g Internship Course

INT 92G is a one-credit Internship Course offered through the Rabb Summer School. Cost for Summer 2008 is $300. It is the most popular and easiest option to earn credit.  Ideal for those whose internsihp sites require them to be earning credit in lieu of compensation.

**Please note: Students may only receive credit once for each internship experience. Example: Students may not perform an internship in the summer, receive credit from the summer school and then enroll in an 92a/b for the fall and receive further credit for that internship performed in the summer.**

 4-Credit Summer Internship Course Options

Option 1

Obtain faculty approval in the spring, perform the Internship during the summer and enroll in a four-credit Internship Course for the fall  semester.

First, obtain approval from a professor sponsoring your internship PRIOR to the summer. Register in an 89a/b Internship Seminar or 92a/b Independent Internship course for the fall semester. Complete your summer internship. Complete all required coursework (including meetings with the supervising faculty member) when you return in the fall semester, to be turned in by the end of the semester. This option is also available from some Interdepartmental Programs (e.g. IGS, HSSP).

**This option is NOT available for International Students because of work authorization requirements.

Option 2

Enroll in a Rabb Summer School 4-credit INT 89 course (Cost for Summer 2008 - $1840).

These courses are the same as those offered during the regular academic year. Courses change every summer, but information can be found on current opportunities at the Summer School website:

**Please note: Students may only receive credit once for each internship experience. Example: Students may not perform an internship in the summer, receive credit from the summer school and then enroll in a 92a/b undergraduate course in the fall and receive further credit for those internship hours performed in summer.

Option 3

Enroll in the Rabb Summer School  INT 92a course, a full-credit course where the internship is done independently but with faculty supervision. (Cost for Summer 2008 - $1840)
