The Brandeis endowment supports the mission of the university. As a research university, Brandeis is dedicated to the advancement of the humanities, arts and social, natural and physical sciences. As a liberal arts college, Brandeis affirms the importance of a broad and critical education in enriching the lives of students and preparing them for full participation in a changing society, capable of promoting their own welfare, yet remaining deeply concerned about the welfare of others.
Brandeis fulfills its responsibility to the Jewish community through a variety of endowed centers and institutes that enhance teaching and research. The university’s commitment to social justice is supported through funds made available to augment the work of the myriad centers and institutes, academic programs, clubs and activities that study conditions and work to improve the state of the poor and the oppressed at home and abroad.
