Introducing New Associate Director Shayna Weiss
Meet our new Associate Director, Dr. Shayna Weiss. Prior to Brandeis, Dr. Weiss was the Distinguished Visiting Scholar of Israel Studies at the United States Naval Academy, educating future officers about
Hipster Herzl, Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) Jews and the Israeli army. She is currently completing a book on gender segregation in Israel, and is also interested in the politics of Israeli popular culture. After growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, Shayna attended Brandeis as an undergraduate, so this new position serves as a homecoming for her, as well. She completed a PhD in Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University.
