Sample Tentative Weekly Schedule

The summer will be divided into two five-week sessions, with the first two courses (Anthropological Inquiry and Ethnographic Research Design/Fieldwork) taking place in June and the third course (Individual Readings and Research in Anthropology/Senior Honors Research) running July-August.

Monday - Thursday
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  ANTH 183aj Anthropological Inquiry

1:00 - 3:00 p.m.  ANTH 181aj Ethnographic Research Design/Fieldwork

 

July 2 - August 3

4 hour class each week: Ethnographic Research Workshop

1 private meeting with Professor Ferry each week.

20 hours of independent research each week.

During this section of the program, students will be required to do at least 20 hours per week of field research, following the research design developed in section 1.  In addition, students will participate in at least one four-hour class session per week (two sessions will be scheduled to accommodate fieldwork – students may attend both if they wish).  This class will be run as a workshop for students to discuss and present their field projects and common challenges and strategies with each other.  Students will also be required to meet with the instructor once a week for up to one hour.
