A lyrical, sweeping history of Jewish life in Poland, depicting the richness of Jewish culture both religious and secular: the shtetl and the city dwellers of Bialystok, Cracow, Vilna and Warsaw; the contributions of Jews to the whole of Polish life; and the extreme economic and political vicissitudes to which Polish Jewry was subject over a thousand-year period.
The Last Chapter is the destruction of Polish Jewry by the Nazi onslaught, depicted here with sensitivity and high drama. The film includes rare footage of Jewish life in early 20th century Poland.
