Louis D. Brandeis Scrapbook
This biographical “scrapbook” will bring together a sampling of photos, news clippings, letters, cartoons and other historical documents highlighting the life of Louis D. Brandeis, including his professional career as a Boston attorney, Supreme Court justice and champion of social justice. The scrapbook is being edited by Susan Pasternack, editor of “From the Beginning: A Picture History of the First Four Decades of Brandeis University.” This project is being underwritten by a generous grant from an alumnus who wishes to remain anonymous.
Louis D. Brandeis Biography
Brandeis President Jehuda Reinharz has commissioned Jonathan Sarna, the Joseph H. and Belle R. Braun Professor of American Jewish History, to write an unofficial biography of Louis D. Brandeis, which will be provided to every incoming student at orientation. This project is being underwritten by a generous grant from an alumnus who wishes to remain anonymous.
Louis D. Brandeis Documentary
As part of its centennial celebration, Savings Bank Life Insurance has commissioned Stuart Street Productions and Stuart Television Productions to create a 50-minute documentary chronicling the life and career of Louis D. Brandeis, the founder of SBLI. Brandeis University will host a private premiere in March 2007. The documentary will air on PBS.
“Brandeis on Business”
Brandeis International Business School has released a limited print edition of its “WorldView” periodical entitled “Brandeis on Business.” This special edition of “WorldView” focuses on Brandeis’ commentary on business, economic and social issues. The publication includes an essay by Seventh Circuit Appeal Court Judge Richard A. Posner, entitled “Brandeis and Holmes, Business and Economics, Then and Now,” and extensive annotated quotes from Brandeis’ work. Peter A. Petri, founding dean of IBS, has provided an introduction to Brandeis and his writings on business.
