Using Advanced Uploading of Files Assignments in LATTE

Submitting Files to an Advanced Uploading of Files Assignment

Step 1: Enter your course.

Step 2: Enter the assignment either by clicking on its title on the main course page or clicking on Assignments in the Activities box in the upper right hand corner, then clicking on the assignment in the list.

Step 3: Click on the “Browse” button that appear toward the bottom of the page, just above the “Upload this file” button.

Step 4: Use the file browser to navigate to and select your file to upload and click “Open.”

Step 5: The file location will appear to the left of the “Browse” button, click the “Upload this file” button.

Step 6: The file will appear just below the Submission draft heading. For your instructor’s convenience, it is recommended that you give your files descriptive times including your name (e.g. “JSmith_paper1.doc”).

Step 7: If you wish to replace or simply remove the uploaded file, click the red X that appears to the right of the document name. When prompted, select “Yes” to finish deleting the file. If you are replacing a document, follow steps 3-5 to upload the new file.

Step 8: If this is your final draft and you wish to submit it for grading, you can click the “Send for marking” button toward the bottom of the page. (If this button does not appear, it is because your instructor has disabled this feature.) Once you submit for marking, you will no long be able to upload or delete files for this assignment. If you are sure you wish to continue, click “Yes.”

Best Practice – Rename Your Document When Uploading an Updated Version

When you are replacing an older version of a document, it is possible to save and upload a document with the exact same document name as the original file. However, your new file may fail to replace the old file: when given two files with the same name, LATTE will tend to keep the original.

We recommend that students rename each new version of the document by using the “Save As” function. For example, if the original document submitted was called “JSmith_finalpaper.doc,” you might save your revised copy as “JSmith_finalpaper_v2.doc” or “JSmith_finalpaper_revised1.doc.” This will help ensure that the most recent copy of your document is saved in LATTE.
