The LATTE Project

Over the past decade, an online course management system has become an increasingly critical platform supporting the instructional mission of Brandeis University.
In looking toward the future, Library and Technology Services, early in 2007, recommended replacing WebCT with Moodle, a robust, open source, community-supported learning environment. The Learning and Teaching Technology Environment (LATTE) project introduced Moodle to the Brandeis community, and also served as a springboard to investigate new procedures and learning opportunities to enable faculty to easily employ the capabilities of the Moodle environment to enrich their courses.
The project successfully met its goal of offering a Moodle production environment to the Brandeis community on July 31, 2007. Moodle was quickly adopted by the Brandeis community, and became the primary course management system used in the fall 2007 semester. The project highlighted the strength to be found in combining the skills and knowledge of the Library and Technology Services staff.
The new Learning and Teaching Technology Environment (LATTE) will continue to be developed with input from faculty and students. Visit the LATTE home page for updates.
