David PFEIFFER

 

David Pfeiffer is currently a policy analyst at the Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawaii at Manoa.  He joined the Center in 1997.  He is also affiliated with the Department of Political Science at the University of Hawaii and with the Frank Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts.  Over the last twenty-five years Pfeiffer’s participated in the development of the field of disability studies.  His publications are numerous and varied and a bibliography of his articles is available from the Howe Library.

 

His Collection at the Howe Library currently consists of six file drawers of materials.   He continues to add articles, journals, books, newsletters, etc.  This Collection is rich in the topics of disability studies and disability policy as well as other aspects of disability such as higher education and employment.  Quality of life and attitudes toward disabilities are another area of strength.  Topics also include The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities and Handicaps (ICIDH); personal care assistants and discrimination.  An abbreviated guide featuring the subject area of “disability” in his files can be obtained from the Library.
