Guidelines

All groups, departments, individuals and companies are required to obtain approval from Learfield Licensing before producing any products that use the institution’s registered name(s), trademarks and/or service marks. Approval is required regardless of use or method of distribution.

Manufacturers of commercial products bearing any Brandeis University marks, including athletic logos, must have a license before offering these goods for sale. No product will be licensed without the approval of Brandeis University’s Office of Communications.

Licensing Policy for Student Organizations

Registered Brandeis University student organizations are required to seek approval for the use of Brandeis trademarks first through the Office of Student Activities. A license is not required unless the registered student organization intends to resell merchandise.

Learfield Licensing will make every effort to expedite licenses requested by student groups wishing to resell merchandise and provide a list of vendors that may be able to produce licensed items quickly. Vendors producing items for registered student organizations are not required to pay the licensing fee but must obtain a license. Vendors and purchasers should be aware that it may take 8-12 weeks for new licensees to obtain approval.

Licensing Policy for Internal Use

Campus departments and programs purchasing items for internal use are required to seek approval for the use of Brandeis trademarks through Learfield Licensing prior to ordering.
