The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America honored Jeffrey Hyams for making a significant contribution to understanding Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, which affect 1.4 million Americans. The head of the Division of Digestive Diseases, Hepatology and Nutrition at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, he received the Achievement in Clinical Research Award at the foundation’s annual conference in Florida. Jeffrey has authored or co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and serves as co-editor of “Pediatric Gastrointestinal Disease: Pathophysiology, Diagnosis, Management.” Richard Kopley is pleased to report his short story, “The Hideous and Intolerable Bookshop,” was selected as one of the top 10 of 552 submissions in the Lightship Short Story Competition in 2012, and was published in November in Lightship Anthology 2 (Alma Books). His children’s picture book, "The Remarkable David Wordsworth," illustrated by Michael Fazio, will soon be published by Eifrig Publishing.
