A JOYFUL SITE: Gosman Sports and Convocation Center was a place of celebration on May 19 as Brandeis held its 62nd Commencement ceremonies. Commencement speaker Rick Hodes, a physician who has spent more than two decades treating poor children in Ethiopia as part of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, asked the new grads to keep an open heart — and get busy: “Run to do good. Create a momentum in the right direction. Get your hands dirty. Wear out your shoes. Don’t try to get too comfortable, please! Leave America, and explore the world. Learn from other cultures.”
