Evan Berland, a senior Associated Press editor and manager, was appointed global news manager for weekends at the news cooperative. He oversees weekend operations at AP headquarters, in New York, working during the week to plan weekend coverage and then leading it on Saturdays and Sundays. A 14-year AP veteran, Evan had been serving as deputy editor for the eastern United States. Yair Holtzman was named a partner at New York City’s Anchin Block & Anchin, where he is the practice leader of the research and development tax-credits group. In addition, he heads up the firm’s life sciences and chemicals, and energy groups. Elder-law attorney Sara Meyers was named partner at Enea, Scanlan & Sirignano, which has offices in White Plains and Somers, N.Y. She joined the firm as an associate in 2007. An authority on Medicaid and special-needs planning, she practices in areas that include elder law; home-health care; Medicaid planning; wills, trusts and estates; and guardianships. Lauren Theodore, a 16-year Condé Nast communications executive, joined Steinreich Communications as vice president of the firm’s consumer practice. While at Condé Nast, she created communications strategies and handled media relations for titles such as SELF, Glamour, Brides and Modern Bride.
