Rick Maletsky was appointed executive vice president and general counsel at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, a subsidiary of BGC Partners and Cantor Fitzgerald. He and his wife, Heidi Sachs, live in Highland Park, Ill., with their twin boys, David and Max, and daughter Hannah. Jodi (Dienstag) Friedman and Avi Friedman had a son, Caleb Harrison, on July 29, 2013, in New York City. Caleb joins big brother Ethan. Alaric Toy is pursuing a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine at Nanjing University. Daniel Quaroni has joined Invoke as principal software architect. Previously, he was a software architect at Kayak.com. Tova Speter, an artist and art therapist, was profiled in JewishBoston.com. She is a licensed mental-health counselor and art therapist with a private practice in Newton, Mass. Myq Kaplan’s comedy album, “Small, Dork and Handsome,” received a positive review in The New York Times, which said that Myq “moves from smart to dumb faster than any comic in America. Dense with puns, discursive musings and conceptual jokes, his act moves like a one-man screwball comedy in which his silly and brainy sides bicker.” Tia (Austin) Woods, husband Andrew and daughter Kiya welcomed new addition Conrad to the family on May 29, 2014. The family lives in Denver, where Tia teaches high-school English. Michael Conn, MA’01, joined AllianceBernstein as managing director of strategy, operations and development, supporting the firm’s growing fund of funds business. He had previously been managing director at TCW Group.
