After 45 years of teaching, Juan Corradi, MA’67, PhD’73, is retiring from NYU in August. He plans to finish three books, travel and captain his sailboat. He is co-editor of Opinion Sur, an Internet journal in three languages that reaches 70,000 readers. Robert Marcus, Heller MSW’70, retired after a career advocating in behalf of people whose disabilities are met with stigma as well as a lack of services, funding and imagination. He writes, “I owe a great deal of my career to my Heller School experience as well as my undergrad time, especially managing Cholmondeley’s.” Judy Roberts, MFA’68, retired after 33 years of teaching college and has started the Fools Haven theater group, working with experienced actors “to expand the boundaries of theater.” In its first year, the group staged five different shows in six venues. Judy has four grandchildren. As part of a move toward quasi-retirement, Michael Seltz went from full-time employee to consultant at Volunteers of America. Since then, he has devoted his attention to St. Mary’s Housing Development Corp., a well-funded nonprofit that owns 769 units of senior housing in five developments in northern Virginia. After 48 years of practicing law, Dennis Smith retired on Dec. 31, 2015. He and his wife, Sandy Kotzen Smith, began retirement by spending three months in Sarasota, Florida, exploring life without schedules or deadlines. He writes, “I am trying my best to consider this not an ending but a beginning — a new chapter in my life.” Jeffrey Tarter wrote “The First Hundred Days: How to Hit the Ground Running With a Brand-New Job.” Richard Weisberg has written a new book on Vichy and the German occupation. The Floersheimer Professor of Constitutional Law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, he is on the executive committee of the Modern Language Association’s discussion group on law as literature and presented a paper titled “Defamation in Fiction: Judicial Ways of Envisioning the Audience to Harmful Speech” at the January convention.
