Michael Bender is retiring from his gastroenterology practice after 45 years. He intends to travel, catch up on his reading and take life easy. Paulette Cooper (Noble) is looking forward to the publication of her 24th book, “Battlefield Scientology: Exposing L. Ron Hubbard’s Dangerous ‘Religion.’” Paulette wrote her first book, the first major exposé of Scientology, in 1971. Liz (Freund) Fideler continues to research, write and publish. She presented a webinar based on her research on older workers for Brandeis’ Hiatt Career Center in September and gave a talk about her books “Women Still at Work” and “Men Still at Work” at Regis College in November. To commemorate Larry Gross’ 50th year of teaching communication (35 years at Penn, 15 years at the University of Southern California), several of his former students collaborated on a book, “The Inclusive Vision: Essays in Honor of Larry Gross.” Larry continues to teach at USC. He lives in Los Angeles with his partner of 43 years (husband for 10 of them), Scott Tucker. David Kann’s second chapbook of poems, “At Fernald School,” has been published by Finishing Line Press. His first chapbook was “The Language of the Farm.” Ed Sukenick has been a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice for nearly 50 years. Recently, he was named Therapist of the Month by the Soldiers Project, which provides free, unlimited mental-health services to any active-duty service member or veteran who has served since 9/11. “Showing a young soldier how to become strong without thinking such exposure is a weakness has been quite gratifying,” Ed says. Stephen Ugelow writes, “Just made plans to be at our class’s 55th Reunion. If I can come all the way from Hawaii, you can be there, too!”
