Vivian Troen
Senior Education Specialist
As co-director of the Induction Partnership at the Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education at Brandeis, Vivian Troen develops and implements school collaborations between Jewish day schools and the university. These partnerships help schools build capacity to strengthen new teacher induction practices and foster the development of school-wide professional learning communities. Vivian is also affiliated with the DeLeT/MAT program.
For over three decades Vivian has been a teacher, leader, advocate of the professionalization of teaching, and innovator in educational reform. She is a partner and co-founder of the Educational Research/Consulting Group, a consultancy that delivers change-agent educational programs to teachers and principals, education institutions, school systems, and government agencies worldwide. She is the co-author of Who's Teaching Your Children? Why the Teacher Crisis is Worse Than You Think and What Can be Done About It, published by Yale University Press in 2003, and author of The Power of Teacher Teams: Cases, Analyses, and Strategies for Teaming Success, forthcoming.
