Sharing First Impressions of Study Child

Before students get in small groups to share first impressions of their study child, I ask them what their colleagues could do to support their inquiry. I am trying to nurture habits of critical colleagueship. Students suggest various ways that others in the group could be helpful, including paying attention to how well the evidence supports their emerging interpretations. QQ shares her first impressions, including something that puzzles her about this first grader and Emily tries to help her think this through.
