Ramie TargoffRamie Targoff teaches and studies Renaissance English and Italian literature, with an emphasis on the relationship between poetry and religion. She has written books on common prayer and its relationship to the Renaissance devotional lyric; on the poetry and prose of the 17th-century author John Donne;, and on the role of death in Italian and English love poetry from Petrarch to Marvell. She is currently completing a biography of the sixteenth-century Italian poet, Vittoria Colonna.
