The Enzyme Instructed Self-Assembly of a Phosphorylated
Hexapeptide

Michael Lostica, Jie Li, Bing Xu

Abstract: Small peptides and their derivatives have been shown to self-assemble in solution, forming supramolecular structures, like nanotubes and nanofibrils, and resulting in hydrogels. These molecules may not initially form such structures in solution, but do so after removal of moieties by enzymatic cleavage. Here, a hexapeptide containing phosphorylated tyrosine residues (LREYpFYp), and a derivative containing Fmoc (fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl), were shown to undergo enzyme instructed self-assembly (EISA).
