Meet Mochila: student Arabic-jazz fusion band
Mar. 20, 2009
Multicultural musical group is prepping to release first album this spring
Their mission is to make music, but this Arabic-jazz fusion band is also in the business of promoting peace and coexistence. Mohammad Kundas ’10 founded the 12-member band Mochila to build bridges between cultures through a fusion of Arabic, jazz, reggae, reggaeton and Indian classical music.
Mochila will celebrate the official release of their CD, “Green Bullets,” with a performance on Sunday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the Slosberg Music Center as part of the Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts.
BrandeisNOW got the chance to experience Mochila's music during a recent concert for local students. Listen to more of their music on MySpace and Facebook.
