University's ‘Great Green Ideas' will be unveiled Wednesday

President Reinharz, faculty and student leaders will announce new environmental initiatives

On Sept. 30, Brandeis President Jehuda Reinharz will announce a major new conservation initiative, and launch the Brandeis University Climate Action Plan in an event at the Shapiro Science Center. In addition, Faculty Senate Chair Sabine von Mering will unveil the plans, programs and unique new Web site of the recently created Brandeis Forum on Environmental Crisis, and Student Union President Andy Hogan '11 will talk about student-led conservation initiatives planned for the year ahead.

While the announcements will be made at 5:30 p.m., members of the Brandeis community are invited to a reception before the event at 5 p.m. Music will be provided by the student music ensemble Sax Appeal, and locally grown refreshments will be served. Visitors can also take a tour of the science center starting at 4:30 p.m.

Students, faculty and staff are asked to RSVP at the “Great Green Ideas for Brandeis and Beyond” Facebook page, but are still welcome to attend if they don’t get a chance to RSVP.
