Brandeis chapter of Phi Beta Kappa elects new members
Phi Beta Kappa was founded at the College of William and Mary in 1776 and is the oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honors organization in the country. Brandeis established a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in 1961. This earned Brandeis the distinction of achieving the quickest chapter chartering in relation to an institution’s founding.
Brandeis has awarded Phi Betta Kappa membership to nearly 2,500 students from almost 60 countries. Membership is contingent on the quality of a student’s academic record, breadth of their academic interest beyond their concentration, and the opinions of the faculty and senior advisors concerning the student’s character and scholarly achievement.
This year, 89 seniors and 8 juniors have been elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
